Eurozone GDP expanded by 0.2% in Q3

Economic growth in the eurozone halved in the third quarter, updated Eurostat estimates were confirmed on Wednesday. p>

Gross domestic product grew by 0.2 percent compared with the second quarter, when the economy increased by 0.4 percent. On an annualized basis, GDP rose 1.7 percent in the third quarter, after rising 2.2 percent in the previous three months. R>

Quarterly growth in 28 EU countries slowed to 0.3 percent versus 0.5 percent. The annual growth rate fell to 1.9 percent compared to 2.1 percent. P>

Thus, preliminary estimates, published on October 30, were confirmed. P>

In a separate report, Eurostat published preliminary estimates of employment in the third quarter. The report showed that job creation in the eurozone slowed to 0.2 percent in the third quarter, against 0.4 percent in the second quarter. R>

Employment growth in the eurozone year on year fell to 1.3% against 1.5%. p>
