Industrial production in the eurozone in August rose more than forecast, a Eurostat study showed on Friday. p>

Industrial production expanded 1 percent on a monthly basis in August, after falling 0.7 percent in July and June. Economists had expected a moderate growth in industrial production by 0.4 percent.

The increase was due to a rise in the production of non-durable consumer goods by 3.1 percent and an increase in investment by 1.3 percent. P>

Meanwhile, the volume of production of semi-finished products fell by 0.4 percent, while energy production decreased by 0.3 percent. Production of durable goods fell by 1.1 percent. P>

On an annualized basis, industrial production growth was 0.9 percent compared to 0.3 percent in July. Economists had forecast a decline in industrial production by 0.3 percent. P>
