Confidence among French industrialists rose slightly in August after a fall in the previous month, data from a survey of the statistical office Insee showed on Thursday. p>
The confidence index of industrialists rose to 110 in August from 109 in July, which was revised upwards after 108. Economists had expected the index to remain stable at 108.0. p>
The index measuring overall expectations for production rose to 11 in August against 10 in the previous month.
Meanwhile, their personal expectations for production have weakened to 18 against 23 earlier. However, the index remained well above the long-term average. p>
The balance of opinion of industrialists on past performance has improved noticeably in August, the index has increased to 19 against 10. p>
The index of the business climate, which covers the main sectors, in August slightly subsided. The corresponding index decreased to 106 against 107. p>
